Joanna Fuhrman is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Pageant (Alice James Books) and Moraine (Hanging Loose Press.)  In 2011 Least Weasel published her chapbook The Emotive Function. For more see Joannafuhrman.com Her collaborations with Toni have appeared in Paperbag and the 100th issue of Hanging Loose.

Toni Simon is a multimedia artist living in Brooklyn. Her illustrated book of prose poetry Earth After Earth was recently published by Lunar Chandelier Press. She has exhibited her drawings at the Drawing Center and at the AIR Gallery in NYC. http://tonisimonart.blogspot.com

Toni Simon writes: "After hearing Joanna Fuhrman read her fantastic poems for the first time I introduced myself and suggested a collaboration. I envisioned illustrating her poetry, but to my surprise Joanna suggested something far more fun and adventurous—photographing my paper sculptures of Egyptian deities in various parts of New York (Anubis in Park Slope, Bastet in Red Hook, Horus in Chinatown). Joanna would then write serial poems to accompany the photos.

"The photos combined with Joanna’s poetic, verbal settings provide an interactive universe in the here and now, bringing these ancient deities back to life. So far, we have created six sections. More are to come."
